Evadne menatap pin yang mengambang itu lekat-lekat.
Cahaya remang kamarnya sama sekali tidak memotong keindahan yang terpancar dari kesederhanaan bercacat ukiran tersebut. Kilaunya masih terhitung bersih bahkan ketika kabut nyaris tak kasat mata menyelimuti benda tersebut di udara dan memutar-mutarnya seperti balerina dalam kotak musik magis pemberian sang ibu pada ulang tahunnya yang ke-16.
Ia masih ingat hari itu. Jauh, lamun dekat. Seperti bayang-bayang siang bolong yang luput dari gapaian tangannya dan tetap ada ketika ia kibaskan tangannya pada imaji itu. Evadne juga bisa bilang memorinya akan hari itu sempurna. Musim semi berarti ia bisa makan kue beri. "Aku tidak memesan barang apapun selama dua minggu terakhir,"
Pertanyaan yang muncul di kepala ibunya pun terulang di kepalanya: Siapa pengirimnya? Jika Eve kini berdiri di akhir kalimat tersebut, ia sendiri juga tidak tahu jawabannya sebab di antara kedua penghuni rumah yang lemah kuasa dan tidak diberi suara, hanya ada satu yang lebih bebas.
"Evan, kau yang lebih sering keluar selepas kerja. Kau beli apa sampai Ma marah?"
